What are parallel imported products?

Canon Australia Pty Ltd (Canon Australia) is the only authorised distributor of Canon products in
Australia. Some Canon products, however, enter Australia or New Zealand through unofficial
channels. For example, some retailers may import Canon products from another country, instead
of purchasing through Canon Australia. Products imported in this way are referred to as parallel imported products.

What are privately imported products?

Individuals may import products which have been purchased from countries outside Australia and
New Zealand. These may have been ordered through an overseas retailer or purchased whilst on
an overseas trip. These products are referred to as privately imported products.

Does Canon Australia guarantee parallel and privately imported products?

No. With the exclusion of lenses, binoculars and accessories, Canon Australia does not provide
any guarantees or warranties for parallel and privately imported products. Canon Australia is under
no obligation to repair any parallel and privately imported digital compact cameras, digital video
cameras and digital SLR camera bodies or pay any refund in the event of product failure. In such
cases, purchasers will need to contact the retailer who sold them the product.
